Shipment of goods
Product origin
The country of origin of the product must appear on the export documents (invoice and customs forms). The origin of the product is the country where the goods shipped are manufactured. It determines the rate as well as the customs facilities to which the goods cleared through customs are subjected, according to the free trade agreements in force between the country of manufacture and the country of destination. (list of Swiss free trade agreements).
Non-commercial shipment
Customs services require an invoice for international shipments. If your shipment is not commercial in nature, you may replace this invoice with a pro forma invoice. Expedismart offers you a pro forma invoice template that you can download and complete.
Declaration on invoice or pro forma invoice
This simplified declaration allows exporters of goods whosecountry or countries of origin are members of the same free trade agreement as the country of destination to directly indicate on the invoice or on the proforma invoice the origin of the product. The following note must clearly be added on the invoice or pro forma invoice:
Product of preferential origin of a single country
“The exporter of the products covered by this document declares that, except where otherwise clearly indicated, these products are of preferential Swiss or EC origin”.
Product of preferential origin of several member countries of a free trade agreement
“The exporter of the products covered by this document declares that, except where otherwise clearly indicated, these products are of preferential origin of a list of countries.”
This form of declaring is limited depending on the country of destination and the value of the shipment. See summary table.
